Week 28/76 This Is The Life!

Image
This week went by super fast. We did some service, found some new people, ate sushi, and celebrated 2 birthdays!  Has everyone read Fahrenheit 451? Well I felt like I stepped into this classic novel when we showed up for service on wednesday. Something about a crazy ex, and we got to clear out the burnt room. Everyone is ok, which is what's really important. Then they invited us over for sushi!  Then the next day it was my companions birthday!! We had a pink party at lunch to celebrate and ate lots of cake!  We had intercambios the next day and I got to help out in Universitario with Hermana Danko. We did english classes and spent the day on the side of a hill finding people to teach!  On saturday we had a relief society activity to celebrate the 181st anniversary of Relief Society. It was like if I had 30 moms and grandmas! They gave us treats, we chatted, and everyone had their mate. My companion made the wise observation that RS activities usually just consist of ...

Week 26/76 Where's The Beef?

Image
Somehow i messed up the number of weeks last week, so we are gonna name this one 26 and it's all good.  A third of the way done!!! How did this even happen? I blinked and 6 months flew by! Yesterday I officially hit 6 months as a missionary, and I can hardly believe it.  Not much happened this week, we had a conference and took a trip up north to Penco for a baptism of a family that my comp taught.  Picture this: Your mom tells you that you guys are gonna get your favorite pizza after you go to the grocery store. The trip to the grocery store is super long and you are so tired and you have to wait for a long time, but you are super excited for the pizza. You love pizza from Papa Johns and cant wait to just eat and enjoy and the whole trip will have been worth it. Then you pull up to the Little Ceasers. Your heart drops. You came all this way, and you just get Little Ceasers. Of course the pizza is still good ans you still got to eat and you actually enjoyed the trip with ...

Week 27/76 Where's Hualqui??

Image
In case you haven't talked to my mom, heard from me, or seen on facebook, I got transferred!! I'm now in Hualqui (wall key). Its a small town south of Concepción.  My new companion is Hermana Faliveni! She is from Argentina, even though her last name is Italian. Its only been a week but we've had a party!!  We don't have any people progressing, but we've been working hard and with faith we will have baptisms this month!!  For national women's day on the 8th we gifted flowers to the elders while everyone wished us a happy day!! They were good sports!  We tried a new drink called harina tostada, which menas roasted/toasted flour. And it tastes just like the milk from a bowl of frosted mini wheats, a 10/10 from me! But I heard people also put it on watermelon and lots of other things.  The same family that gave us the harina tostada has like 5 swimming pools! They were all empty and it looked like the perfect place for a ghost story!  We took photos in a huge ...

Week 25/76 It's March!!

Image
This week was a party. We had a bunch of really good lessons with the members and had 9 people come to church!  They changed our schedule a little bit and now we have time for snack time every day!  I've been collecting new dresses and lots of little souvenirs from members. And it's great, but I don't know how I'm gonna bring it all home.  I've found dople gangers of my siblings and other people I know, and it's strange, but it's a good way to make fast friends.  I sang a song with my comp in English, Spanish, and portugese. I'm still trying to decide if I'm gonna send it.  But it was a good week, and it ended with transfer news!!! But you'll have to wait til next week, or ask my mom!  -Hermana Pratt
