Week 24/76 Temple Tuesday

Image
This week felt like the spider ride at lagoon. It was fun and there were lots of ups and down, and sometimes we couldn't see where we were going and things fell through and caught us by surprise.  On Tuesday we had zone conference and it was a blast.  Then we found 2 brothers who want to be baptized. We had a family home evening night with the parents of coni and maitte and they have set a date in June for their wedding so they can get baptized! We had 8 friends in church on Sunday. Definitely a week of miracles.  Now for the crazy, me and my como got sick for 3 days and barely left the house, but we did make a lot of phone calls. We felt an earthquake shake our apartment, that was wild. We had to stop teaching one of our friends with a baptism date, and we worked all day yesterday so we could go to the temple today.  It was a wild ride for sure, but I know we had the spirit with us all along the way, and we saw miracles and had a really great week.  Enjoy the l...

Week 23/76 Menos Es Más

This week was good. Our house was fumigated on valentines day so we did our studies with a family in our ward.  We found like 4 new people street contacting and we had 7 friends come to church!  We also had the baptism of Coni and Maitte on Sunday and it all turned out great!  We had interviews with President on Friday and that went well.  I tried some new foods, some better than others, but nonetheless I'm crossing pastel de choclo, semole, and budín de zapallo off the list of food to try.  That's about it, the work is good, the fires are dying down, and the miracles keep coming.  Oh and I've been a missionary for 5 months as of yesterday, almost a third of the way there!  -Hermana Pratt

Week 22/76 Baptisms, Birthdays, And Completos For Days

Image
The birthdays just keep coming! We celebrated with an amiga on Monday, she turned 8 and is going to be baptized next sunday with her sister!  Then my companion hermana Balmaceda turned 21 on Tuesday, so we had to celebrate that as well! We ate so much  cake! The members were so excited to celebrate with us, and it was a good start to the week.  The food this week was so good! I finally tried humitas, which are basically just tamales. We ate completos like 3 times. We bought chocolate milk and berlin pastries. And we had probably 4 types of cake! Oh and I had the opportunity to try mate. Which is like tea, but it's just herbs and stuff that they pour water into and drink with a special straw, and you can add sugar if you like. It isn't great, but maybe if I just try it a few more times, or with more sugar, I might like it.  We did service this week, and are hoping to get the chance to help more with the recovery from the fires. But we actually just cleaned up a fence ...

Week 21/76 We Didn't Start The Fire!

Image
We moved! Finally out of the tiniest house in the mission into a very nice spacious apartment! It was a crazy day, we had 9 people, somehow, up in our tiny loft moving everything! We didn't have a fridge or a stove when we got to our new apartment and we couldn't figure out how to get hot water, but as of today all is well!!  We had intercambios the next day, there wasn't even time to enjoy our apartment together. But I got to be with hermana García again for a day. We saw huge miracles, the first being that we found the house of a friend who canceled her baptism date. We had an idea of where she lived, so we got there, said a prayer, and started knocking doors. We had reached the end of the street and were heading back when we noticed someone standing outside. It was her mom, and she was there standing in the doorway. It was like a spotlight pointing right at her, and we new the spirit had lead us to her door. We got to talk and figured out why she had canceled her baptism...
