Week 37/76 Extreme Home Makeover: Flu Shots Are Miracles In Disguise

Image
This week was interesting. We got flu shots on Wednesday, the same day we had interviews with president. We took the bus to Chillan in the middle of the day, got our shots, and then after interviews and our district council, we took the bus home, just in time for our lunch appointment, at 5:30... but hey miracles in disguise because we were in the bus the whole time it was pouring rain in Yungay.  If anyone is wondering what it's like to be on a house makeover show, I now have first hand experience.  It started with the president's wife calling us out in front of the whole mission. We sent a photo of the bed sheet we've been using as a curtain to let her know that we needed a real curtain, and she forwarded the photo to the mission chat, and was like ¨who else has 'curtains' like these¨ Thanks hermana Hukdhs. But after a facetime tour of our house, a trip to the store, and 3 elders sacrificing their study time to drive to Yungay, we got a complete house makeover! Ne...

Week 36/76 No Boys Allowed

8 months as a missionary! En que momento?! I don't know where the time has gone, but it is definitely well spent! My companion bought a giant pencil and we have spent the week bring it to meetings and lessons and everyone loves it!  We had an Hermanas meeting with all the Hermanas in the mission, that meant we had to travel to conce. For the lucky missionaries in Yungay (us) that meant either traveling to chillan and then to conce (about 4 hours travel time) or go straight from yungay to conce and leave the mission boundaries (about 2 hours travel time). Like the obedient, but smart missionaries we are, we got permission from the APs and left the mission!  It was a great meeting, high key relief society vibes, but really good!  We had a Blitz at the end of the week, for once we didn't have to travel, they all came to yungay! We worked a lot, had lunch together, and then worked some more! Me and Hermana Blanco had a lesson with our amigo Carmen and she committed to come to...

Week 35/76 Dia De La Madre And Photoshop

This week feels like it happened months ago, bueno, we had a blitz on tuesday and got to eat these completo like burgers.  We started out the week really well with some good visits, we had a lot of good food, and a beautiful sky every night, but we don't have any friends progressing which is sad.  But we have been eating really healthy, saw cute cats, had an encounter with a spider, and survived the week running out of money!  We haven't really been doing much. You guys probably have better stories than I do for this week, so let me know.  Our friend Valentina is all but ready to be baptized, but her mom wants to wait until they move to Utah in November, so that is really disappointing.  We didn't have any amigos come to church, actually barely anyone came to church because it was mothers day, but me and my companion both spoke and I think it went pretty well. Even with our branch president throwing us for a loop and announcing that I wo...

Week 34/76 #yogavibras

I spent approximately 9 hours on a bus over the course of 3 days this past week.  On Tuesday we headed to Chilan for a choir practice and to clean the chapel. I´ve never vacuumed the benches of the church before, but you know if you can´t take your daughter to work, the work will come to her.  I also found a very friendly cat.  The next day it was back on the bus at the crack of dawn to have another practice. They are lucky that I like to sing or the hours of bus rides might not have been worth it.  The next day it was the same, I know it sounds crazy, but I missed waking up at 6:30!  We also did a photo contest this week with our morning exercises, and while our zone did some very nice exercises we slept in the bus.  We finally arrived at the conference, we had been preparing all week! We were going to have a conference with Elder Christensen of the 70 and his wife! I was already nervous to sing, when sister Christen...

Week 33/76 You're 20?!

Image
Unfortunately I am cutting more raw meat now more than any other time in my life.  On Tuesday we had intercambios. I guess I didn't know it at the time but me and hermana Garcia are actually the most powerful companionship and need to be together at least once every 2 months or the balance of the mission is off. We had a miraculous day in Libertador, an old guy told me I could get rid of my acne by using my own earwax, so if anyone wants to or needs to do a science experiment, just be sure to put my name in the acknowledgements! Then Hermana Garcia made me pancakes at the end of the day!  On wednesday we ate pizza in a park and came home to new shelves. We also helped a couple push their car and I thought it was broken, but turns out it works like a toy car that you pull back to wind it up and then it goes, so that was an interesting act of service.  On Friday I turned 20! Thank you guys for all the birthday wishes! We spent the day in a bus to Chillan for a bli...
