Week 71/76 Hermanas... Estamos Mal

Image
Presentation 1 - consejo de lideres We presented in leadership council!!  I was even more nervous than when we presented in zone conference last week. Especially because they told us on Sunday that we would be presenting on Tuesday! So we got everything ready, we showed up, and they were like 'hey, you guys are gonna go first'. I didn't know we were going first!!! We presented about how we need to nurture the missionaries with love and expectations, like plants, with water and sun. We made it through and I got a fist bump from President. If that's not approval I don't know what is.  So then after the council with all the leaders, we have to have a council as a zone to teach all the missionaries what President and the leaders taught us. So we had to plan 2 different zone councils for the 2 zones we are in charge of.  Presentation 2 - Zona Andalien  Would've been a train wreck if it weren't for the strong spirit pulling it all together! We only had 2 tableclot...

Week 70/76 Chicken Nuggets, Conferencia, Y Cambios

Image
This week was super divertido. Mcdonalds chicken nuggets are not as good in Chile. I still think they need Chick-fil-a here.  I also presented in a zone conference for the first time. I was really nervous, but it actually went better than I thought it would. Who knew Family Feud would be a good dynamic practice in zone conference! We had two intercambios. One in Chiguayante with Hermana Anderton, and the other was with Hermana Alcon here in Chillancito. I learned so much, they are such great missionaries. I love the opportunity to see and work with other hermanas.  As far as amigos go, Adrian accepted a baptismal date! Everyone else has been MIA. So I'll let you know how things go this week, but keep Adrian in your prayers!  This week I've been reading in Alma and it talks about preparedness and true intentions. I think a lot of the mission, and life in general, is about our preparedness and our true intention.  In Alma 43:19,26,45-46 it says ¨Moroni had pr...

Week 69/76 By Small And Simple Things

Image
Has anyone else been writing 2023 todavía for the last 2 weeks?  Last Monday after pday we visited Rosa and Anibal. We explained the Restoration and the story of Joseph Smith and the first vision. We invited them to pray to know if those things were true. We asked "Ok, so what are you going to pray for tonight?" And they said "for good health, for protection, for my family, etc." So we were like "Ok and Jose Smith, right?" And Anibal was like "How am I gonna pray for that, I can't expect God to answer, I'll just have to feel it." So we spent like 15 minutes re-explaining prayer and how if they wanted an answer they'd have to pray specifically to get it. I think Anibal still didn't get it, and Rosa actually spent the last half just reading the folleto and not actually listening to what we taught. Then they went out of town for like the 3rd time in the last month and we haven't been able to visit them since. Our one friend with ...

Weekly Reports

Please share a few successes and/or challenges from your efforts to fulfill your missionary purpose this past week.

Week 68/76 The Redirection Effect

Image
In Chile, maybe other places tambien, but I just heard of it here, they say you should pay attention to the first 12 days of the year, especailly the weather each day, because each day cooresponds with a month (1-Jan, 2-Feb, etc.) and the weather that day reflects how the weather will be in that month. For example on friday the 5th it was overcast and cold, so supposedly May will be a very overcast/cold month. Interesting, no?  Not one, but two old ladies called my companion out for wearing pants this week! On different days! And the second time, she wasn't even wearing pants!  The first hermana was like "Well I know President Nelson is a prophet, so if he says it's ok, I guess I can't complain." She then told me she loved the dress I had on and strongly encouraged my companion to wear a dress the next time we visit.  The elders asked if we had an extra mattress that we weren't using. I guess they had just been taking turns sleeping on the floor?? We moved a m...

Weekly Reports

Please share a few successes and/or challenges from your efforts to fulfill your missionary purpose this past week. What is one area you can focus on this coming week to more closely follow the principles in Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ?

Week 67/76 Grapes Are Good As Gold

Image
Feliz Año Nuevo!!  Did everyone speed eat 12 grapes this morning? If not it's ok, I was also unaware that people did that for new years.  We were late to zone council on Wednesday because our bus driver pulled over and was like "are you guys chill if I buy something real quick?" we were the only ones in the bus so we were like, umm sure. So he left us alone in his bus, was gone for five minutes, and came back with a bag of bread. Then after zone council our bus to lunch was driving up and down crazy hills and then we saw some cows in a park.  We saw a guy sitting on the curb a little sad looking so we decided to talk to him. He explained that he had lived in the states for 5 years and was about to move again, we explained the book of mormon and gave him a copy. Then I asked for his name as we were leaving and he says in English "Ronald, like Ronald McDonald, now when you're hungry you'll think of me"  We did a service project before lunch on Saturday. Th...

Please share a few successes and/or challenges from your efforts to fulfill your missionary purpose this past week. Invitamos a muchas personas venir a Cristo. Y se que veremos milagros What is one area you can focus on this coming week to more closely follow the principles in Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ?
