Week 69/76 By Small And Simple Things

Has anyone else been writing 2023 todavía for the last 2 weeks?

Last Monday after pday we visited Rosa and Anibal. We explained the Restoration and the story of Joseph Smith and the first vision. We invited them to pray to know if those things were true. We asked "Ok, so what are you going to pray for tonight?" And they said "for good health, for protection, for my family, etc." So we were like "Ok and Jose Smith, right?" And Anibal was like "How am I gonna pray for that, I can't expect God to answer, I'll just have to feel it." So we spent like 15 minutes re-explaining prayer and how if they wanted an answer they'd have to pray specifically to get it. I think Anibal still didn't get it, and Rosa actually spent the last half just reading the folleto and not actually listening to what we taught. Then they went out of town for like the 3rd time in the last month and we haven't been able to visit them since.

Our one friend with a baptism date agreed to meet us in a park on Thursday. Between the time that he sent that text at 12, and when we agreed to meet in the park, at 6:30, he had a change of heart, never showed up, and blocked our number. Rude.

We had intercambios! Me and Hermana Miranda ran around chillancito handing out copies of the Book of Mormon!

One day we were walking down the street, when a guy approached us and asked "Hey are you guys missionaries? Can you share a scripture with me?" Um por supuesto. So we read a scripture and gave him a book of mormon, but when we asked for his number he said that he doesn't actually live here and the book was actually all he needed.

We had interviews with President, and he told me I could start thinking about dating?!

Another day we had knocked a house and were a little surprised when 3 children climbed out of the van parked in front and asked what we needed. They said their grandma was christian but that she was sleeping, but they were willing to listen to a quick message. We shared about prayer, gave them some pass along cards, and then continued down the street. A minute and a half later they came running after us to give us sea shells they had got from the beach that day!

I had garlic bread for the first time in chile!!

We were on our way to the elders baptism on Saturday when we stopped to pick up chips, and the lady selling the chips starred at me like I was dumb when I asked if they accepted credit cards. Then she said "no, you have to pay with money." Not cash. Money.

But the baptism was good. I ended up giving the talk on the Holy Ghost and singing in a musical number.

Yesterday we had lunch at the second counselors house. 30 minutes drive away, in the country, outside of our sector, outside of our zone, technically in one of the zones afuera. Oops.
The food was good, though they had a supposedly very venomous, dead bug as a center piece on the table. Needless to say it was very interesting.

Today we are preparing for another week, hopefully full of success and miracles!

Someone told me once that God is in the details of the details of the details of our lives.

I testify that it's true. God knows you, and He loves you, He has a plan for you.

And the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls. (Alma 37:7)

My efforts, in the small sector of chillancito, in the middle of concepción, at the bottom of Chile, are very small in the grand scheme of everything. But the Lord works by means, and by my very small means He bringeth about the salvation of many souls!

Love you guys!!
