Week 66/76 A Chilean Christmas Story

Image
Feliz Navidad!!  Tanto tiempo, how is everyone enjoying Christmas?  Thanks for taking time out of your holiday celebrations to read my email, lets get into the good stuff!!  Dato curioso- this week I spent more time out after curfew then I have for more than an year.  Zone conference We were in charge of decorating the church for the Christmas zone conference. The final product wasn't that pretty and we were just a bunch of young adults throwing something together, but it was like 11pm and we were having a great time!  The actually conference was so good!!  Not only was it christmas, singing, games and presents, but hermana Hukdhs read from Jonathan Livingston Seagull, and President Hukdhs compared us to Baby Yoda!  I think many of us have had a conversation así,  Person 1: oh look it's Baby Yoda  Person 2 (a Star Wars fan): actually, his name is Grogu President told us that like Baby Yoda, people make assumptions and set expectations based o...

Weekly Reports

Please share a few successes and/or challenges from your efforts to fulfill your missionary purpose this past week.

Week 65/76 Triste Quince

This week felt like fast motion. We've been all over the place. I finished 15 months in the mission today! And we took a trip to the temple!  We had interviews with President. I made banana bread. Discovered that President loves banana bread! And got some great consejo from President. 10/10 We took a quick trip to Villa Acero for the baptism of Patricia! I got to see old companions and old member friends from the beginning of my mission.  Does everyone remember that one part of My Fair Lady when her shower is like deathly hot and steaming. That's about what happened with Patricia's baptism. They had to use pitchers and pots and other kitchen containers to add cold water so that she could be baptized without being burned.  We were in a trio for un rato with hna Duffy on Saturday before she headed home. We visited some people and bought the best bread in concepción, all while it poured rain. They we dropped her off and went to meet our new friends Rosa and Anibal. We've a...

Week 64/76 Caution Wet Floor

How many missionaries does it take to fix a font?  This week we did a lot of small, odd service projects.  Ranked from least to most entertaining:   1.Hermana Dyreng made cookies, I helped a little, and the ward loved them.  2.An inactive member asked for help with a sign for her business. Hermana Dyreng used her art skills and made the sign all cute. I handed her the markers and tested if they were dead or not.  3.We taught English to a 13 year old member. We just talked about the names of foods. It would've been #2 on this list but afterwards she started telling us about how she had a little thing for the son of the bishop in Collao, but he didn't want a girlfriend, so now they are just friends that don't talk as much. #3 for the tea.   4.We got to set up a Christmas tree! With lights, ornaments, a star and everything! All around good Christmas vibes, that I've missed for a year.  5.Cat sitting. The same hermana asked us if we could keep he...

Please share a few successes and/or challenges from your efforts to fulfill your missionary purpose this past week. What is one area you can focus on this coming week to more closely follow the principles in Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ? Who did you participate in exchanges with? How did the exchange go? Is there anything happening at home or with your family that you would like to share? (Optional) Mi h...

Week 63/76 What Do You Have? A Knife! No!

This is gonna be a long one... lo siento. This week we had 2 intercambios between a zone conference, leadership council, and zone council. All the while trying to invite our friends to be baptized, come to church, plan Ana's baptism, and find new friends to teach.  So yeah, we were just about completely wiped and found a few minutes to nap whenever we could throughout the day.  We had to conduct zone conference. It was more complicated than I thought it would be. There was a miscommunication with the counselors and how long they had to talk, and then the APs presentation went 45 minutes long, and the whole schedule was off. We tried everything to stay at least close to on time but it looked hopeless when 1 o'clock rolled around and our mission president and his wife hadn't spoken yet, but in the end, President only ended like 5 minutes later than we expected, que milagro!!  My first intercambio of the week was in a sector called Santa Sabina, with hermana Quintero. We onl...

Please share a few successes and/or challenges from your efforts to fulfill your missionary purpose this past week.
