Week 11/76 Un Bautismo Del Día De Acción De Gracias!

This week I attended my first zone conference. It was all in spanish so I only understood like 65% of it, but it was still really good.  We have hot water again and a working stove, which we used to roast s'mores.    We tried some really tangy flan jello stuff, it was a lot by itself, but it'd probably be good as a layer in a cake.  For Thanksgiving we were home most of the day, and in the afternoon we had a baptismal interview with our friend Melissa. But we still bought lemon pie to celebrate at the end of the day, and we wrote what we were grateful for.  If I had a nickel for everytime this year that I attended a baptism and then ate pizza afterwards, I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.  The baptism was on Saturday and it was so cool! I still can't believe I had my first baptism 4 weeks into my mission, but the spirit was so strong and I loved teaching Melissa!  This week we've been doing lots of contacting...

Week 10/76 Feliz Cumplemes Para Mi

This week was crazy!!  I tried mote con wassio which is barley and peach juice with a dried peach, and it was the worst thing I've tried since being in Chile. But lots of people love it I guess. We went to the mission office for interviews with the president and then couldn't find a bus home, so our district leader called an Uber for us, and I rode in an Uber for the first time! And the car had crank windows! I tried Ecco which is basically Chilean, Word of wisdom approved coffee. It tastes ok with a lot of sugar.  We decorated our house with leaves and hand turkeys for Thanksgiving, even though they don't celebrate it here, we do!!  We have also been planning a baptism, which is going to be on Saturday and we are so excited! Hermana Eriksson had her 13th cumplemes on Friday, and I had my 2nd cumplemes on Saturday, so we threw a party,  blew up balloons, ate candy, and had a dance party. We had to do this all on Thursday night because on friday and Saturday we did in...

Week 9/76 Temblor!! Parte 2

This week was crazy. We got rained on! But we were still out 'knocking' doors and having lessons.  We had Chilean tacos this week, they were pretty similar to american tacos, except hard shells don't exist here and they have rice instead of beans, and corn and guacamole, and it really wasn't that similar to tacos I've had before except that they called it tacos and it was in a tortilla with meat and cheese. But it was super bueno!  We had a ward activity on Saturday in preparation for ward conference on sunday. It was so cute, they had a cute little airplane set up and everyone got a ticket to Easter Island where we played games and ate candy and learned about the gospel. But when everyone got back on the plane to go home, it crashed, and we got to dress up as angels and guide people to heaven, where they were judge for the things they did on Easter Island. It was super fun and helped everyone feel the spirit for ward conference.  Then on Saturday night when we had ...

Week 8/76 Hola! Bienvenido A Chile!

I made it! We left the CCM early on Monday and flew for almost 9 hours. We stayed the night in Santiago in a hotel and then got up early again to fly for an hour into the concepcion Airport, which is the smallest airport I've ever seen. It only had 7 terminals!! Then we took a bus back to the mission home where we hung out for hours. Finally they put us in another hotel for the night and we had some pretty good food in the hotel. Then the next morning we finally got to meet our trainers! My trainer is Hermana Eriksson and she is the best! She is super patient with me and she is teaching me a lot. The first day we ended up staying at the mission office for 2 hours after the other companionship left because our phone wasn't working so we couldn't get an Uber. They tried resetting our phone but then all of our contacts were erased. And we were assigned to a whitewashed area, so nobody knew anybody and we didn't have contacts and it was crazy. We finally got a ride home and...
