Week 8/76 Hola! Bienvenido A Chile!

I made it! We left the CCM early on Monday and flew for almost 9 hours. We stayed the night in Santiago in a hotel and then got up early again to fly for an hour into the concepcion Airport, which is the smallest airport I've ever seen. It only had 7 terminals!! Then we took a bus back to the mission home where we hung out for hours. Finally they put us in another hotel for the night and we had some pretty good food in the hotel. Then the next morning we finally got to meet our trainers! My trainer is Hermana Eriksson and she is the best! She is super patient with me and she is teaching me a lot. The first day we ended up staying at the mission office for 2 hours after the other companionship left because our phone wasn't working so we couldn't get an Uber. They tried resetting our phone but then all of our contacts were erased. And we were assigned to a whitewashed area, so nobody knew anybody and we didn't have contacts and it was crazy. We finally got a ride home and we live in a cute little house behind the relief society president.

Right away we started doing missionary work, visiting people and figuring out the area. The houses all have gates around them, so instead of actually knocking on the door you just yell from the fence and they come to the door!

We eat a big lunch everyday and it's kinda the only meal they eat here. The members are all so nice and welcoming. I don't understand what they are saying like 89% of the time, but I'm getting better every day. Lots of people ask me if I'm related to Parley P. Pratt, but apparently there is a Chilean hero named Arturo Pratt so they ask about that a lot too!

I've eaten so much bread, and for dessert they have fruit with whipped cream. They also usually have tuna with lettuce and olives with pits! Luckily I like tuna but my companion doesn't!

We did a service project on Saturday and helped clean dead flowers off of headstones at the cemetery, it was really cool and we got to see a bunch of other missionaries from around the area. And we rode a little bus, or micro, and it was a fun little adventure!

I still can't believe I am in Chile, but I already love it and all the people!

I hope you are all having a good time, I hear it's cold in Utah, we are going into the summer here!!

Have a good week!
Con amor, Hermana Pratt
