Week 75/76 White And Ready To Harvest

Image
I had the opportunity to teach about the Restoration and the Book of Mormon in english for the first time this week!  I asked them if they assist another church, when I was trying to ask if they attend another church and a few other spanish words slipped in, but it went well and they agreed to read 3rd Nephi!   We had 2 intercambios this week. With hermana Toro and hermana Guevara. I always learn so much and enjoy getting to know the hermanas!  We also laugh a bunch and become good friends!  We picked golden berries and had fresh golden berry juice for lunch. We also ate some pastries like the ones from Brave and Hermana Ortiz told me that in spanish they don't have a scottish accent. We had probably the worst lunch of my mission this week. Cold tuna with cheese and onions on top. I didn't mind seafood before, but that was asqueroso!  On Thursday we were waiting for people to show up to english class (no one did) I decided to check my email, and was surprised to...

Weekly Reports

Please share a few successes and/or challenges from your efforts to fulfill your missionary purpose this past week.

Week 74/76 Repentance Each Day Keeps The Wild Dogs Away

Image
Hey guys, tanto tiempo!  These 3 days in collao have been actually very uneventful, but it's crazy to be walking the same streets a year later.  My new companion is hermana Ortiz, she's from Mexico, hates cats, loves spicy food, has 9 months in the mission, and is already one of my best friends!  We still haven't been able to contact hardly any of the amigos that the hermanas were teaching before so poco a poco!  But we got a call from our friend Andre our second day here. He's from Jamaica, speaks english, and even though hes lived here for a while, does not speak spanish. It was a struggle to try to communicate in english while my companion sat there probably very confused and a little bit helpless.  Then at the same moment that he realized we weren't the other hermanas the signal cut out and the call ended. Weird. We haven't gotten a response since.  All of our lunch appointments have been with families who live far away from the city and we have to take...

Weekly Reports

Please share a few successes and/or challenges from your efforts to fulfill your missionary purpose this past week. What is one area you can focus on this coming week to more closely follow the principles in Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ?

Week 73/76 Broken Mirrors And A Pinch Of Salt, A Recipe For Bad Luck

Image
"Hola, would you like a photo of Jesus Christ?" *starts taking pass along card out of my pocket* "no I want nothing to do with any of that..."  I finally pull the card out of my pocket after like 45 seconds of this guy rejecting us and he realizes it's just a photo. "Oh that, well yes, gracias" We did intercambios and I spent the day exploring santa sabina with hna alcon. Some lady was having a bad day because some shoes she got for christmas were too small and it was passed the return date. She walked and talked with us for a good 20 minutes and then told us she wasn't even a little bit interested.  Right after that day in intercambios we started another intercambio in chiguayante. So hna dyreng left the house with hna hales and came to santa sabina. Me and hna dyreng left santa sabina and went to chiguayante Then me and hna anderton left chiguayante and made it back to my sector in chillancito. We were ready to jump right into the work when we op...

Week 72/76 Happy Groundhog Day!

Image
Did everyone read the Book of mormon everyday last week?? How'd it go?  I finally found a statue of Arturo Prat!  thanks to our intercambio in Chiguay, we also saw a dog attack another dog, but overall 9/10. We had lunch with the mom of the bishops wife, from the Linares ward! We ended the night with a Zone Home Evening, that consisted of a spiritual thought and a game of seek and find with random objects around the house. They would say something like "find a spoonful of suger and eat it" and the last companionship to do it, lost. Other random tasks included:  • put on a hoodie • apply chapstick • get the lint tray from your dryer and clean out the lint • put on a baseball cap • show us your mattress cover.  We ended up dressed like frat boys, laughing our heads off, with elders bringing entire mattresses into their tiny study rooms. Safe to say they won the bag of Goldfish. The next day we got home and I dropped my intercambio things off at our apartment before hea...

Weekly Reports

Please share a few successes and/or challenges from your efforts to fulfill your missionary purpose this past week. What is one area you can focus on this coming week to more closely follow the principles in Missionary Standards for Disciples of Jesus Christ?
