Week 73/76 Broken Mirrors And A Pinch Of Salt, A Recipe For Bad Luck
"Hola, would you like a photo of Jesus Christ?" *starts taking pass along card out of my pocket*
"no I want nothing to do with any of that..."
I finally pull the card out of my pocket after like 45 seconds of this guy rejecting us and he realizes it's just a photo.
"Oh that, well yes, gracias"
We did intercambios and I spent the day exploring santa sabina with hna alcon. Some lady was having a bad day because some shoes she got for christmas were too small and it was passed the return date. She walked and talked with us for a good 20 minutes and then told us she wasn't even a little bit interested.
Right after that day in intercambios we started another intercambio in chiguayante. So hna dyreng left the house with hna hales and came to santa sabina. Me and hna dyreng left santa sabina and went to chiguayante Then me and hna anderton left chiguayante and made it back to my sector in chillancito. We were ready to jump right into the work when we opened the door and our full length mirror was face down on the ground. I guess between 7:30 and 9:30 there was a mini earthquake just strong enough to knock our mirror off the wall but leave everything else in all of conce in place. So we started our day cleaning up broken glass. Is that 7 years or 7 days of bad luck? Asking for a friend.
After the whole shattered mirror situation we had a great day! We taught Perla about the plan of salvation and that she doesn't have to worry about her old dog. Then we met with our friend Aroldo. We read Mosiah 18:8-10 together and asked if he had desires to be baptized. When he said sí, I was like "Que le impediría ser bautizado?" He was like "Well nothing I guess" and hna anderton invited him to be baptized and he said yes!!!
Other highlights of the week include my companion dumping salt into my hand because we ran out of salt and didn't want to take the whole shaker from the elders, and taking a fieldtrip back to santa sabina to bring the hermanas some itch cream, neosporin, and bandaids.
We found out cambio news. I was not expecting to go back to Collao, pero donde me mandas iré!
We spent the last 2 days visiting as many people as possible to say goodbye. I didn't realize how much love and support we had in our ward, and now we are leaving, and the ward isn't too excited to have 4 elders running around, but they'll get by.
I'm so grateful for all the support and love I've found through this journey. I'm grateful for each one of you, those that take the time to read my emails and write me, and let me know how loved I am. I try everyday to help the people of Chile feel this same love!
The time is passing rapidísimo!! The only thing to do is enjoy each moment, and be grateful for every second I have as a representative of Christ.
In Helaman 6:3 it says "the people of the church did have great joy...because of the church of God, which had been established among them. And they did fellowship one with another, and did rejoice one with another, and did have great joy."
Have we not great reason to rejoice! For the church of God is established nuevamente among us!
I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a missionary, but I am even more grateful to be a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints. A disciple of Christ, not for 18 months, but for a lifetime!
What are you grateful for this week?
