Week 53/76 Spring Has Sprung
I started the book of mormon from the beginning, its good stuff!
Spring is here, and I've started carrying my sunscreen in my backpack again!
We enjoyed some golden hour sun, when our English class flopped again.
They say the rain hasn't stopped yet, but all of yungay came outside yesterday to enjoy the sun.
We had a really good zone council, and returned home very motivated! But when we presented the plan to our friend Hernan, he wanted nothing to do with it or baptism. Que triste :(
We ran all over yungay this week, we managed to find a couple who are pretty interested. Victor and Yerrsina. She's from Bolivia, he's talked with missionaries before, she is Christian, and they are married!
We were leaving a little street and no one had answered the door, we crossed paths with a guy and me and my companion both stopped starred at the other and then ran back to give him a card, we introduced ourselves and when Hna. Alcon said she was from Bolivia, he was like "oh my pareja (spanish for girlfriend, normally) is from Bolivia!" We kept talking, brought up our purpose and the gospel, he stops us. "Well I'm not very religious, but my pareja is, do you want to talk with her?" OK, so then we followed him through a gate to a little house that was behind another house. We never would have found it knocking doors. He introduces us to Yerssina. She explained that she was Christian and believed in the Bible, but she referred to Victor as her husband. Upon further investigation, we found out that they are legally married! We left them with a Book of Mormon and an invitation to read it! It was super bacan!
Victor mentioned how he met the missionaries before, and how he knew about the Mormón church.
"Oh you guys believe in Will Smith and have extra laws that take away free agency!"
I think he's been watching a little too much IRobot, but we can work with that!
Another night we passed by an inactive members house. He wasn't home, but his neighbor was outside repotting some plants. We offered to help, she declined. So we talked about her plants for a bit, and about the church. We walked away with her contact information, and 2 kindly gifted plants for our house!
Our friend Javier accepted a baptism date for the 21 of October! He didn't make it to church yesterday, but we are working really hard for him to be able to be baptized.
Carmen hasn't decided what day in October she wants to be baptized, but we're going to pray about it, and hopefully we'll begin the planning muy pronto!
Is everyone else as excited for General Conference as we are?
We had a wild pday today, including running around, lost in Chillan, arriving an hour late to the activity, and barely making the bus with a full pizza box in hand.
That's been my crazy week, let me know how yours went!
